The Pinnacle Lady Panthers and the Green River Lady Pirates will both jump into postseason play on Wednesday on the road. On Monday, the Utah High School Activities Association released the final rankings for the 2025 season as well as the bracket for the State Championships. Pinnacle ended the regular season in the No. 17 spot, and the Lady Pirates finished in the No. 19 position.
Pinnacle finished the regular season with an overall record of 8-12, going 1-7 in region play. The last time they were on the court was a 3-0 loss in Monticello on October 16.
In the first round, the Lady Panthers will travel to take on the Escalante Moquis on Wednesday in Escalante at 4:00 p.m.. The Moquis finished the regular season 7-16 overall and 2-9 in region play, landing them in the No. 16 spot. These two teams have met once before in the season opener for Pinnacle on August 7, with Escalante taking a 3-0 victory. A loss would end the season, and a win would advance them to the next round, where they would have the unenviable task of facing the No. 1-seeded Panguitch Bobcats at Utah Valley University on Friday.
The Green River Lady Pirates finished the regular season 5-16 overall with a 1-7 mark in region play. Their last contest was a 3-0 loss to Escalante at home on October 18.
The Lady Pirates sit in the No. 19 spot and will face the No. 14 Whitehorse Raiders in Montzuma Creek on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. Whitehorse finished the regular season 11-10 overall, going 4-4 in conference. These two teams are no strangers to each other, having squared off twice. On September 5 in Green River, the Raiders secured a 3-1 win. Then, on October 1 in Montezuma Creek, Green River was handed another 3-1 loss.
A loss sends the Pirates home, but a win will advance them to the next round at Utah Valley University on Friday to take on the No. 3 St. Joseph Jayhawks. St. Joseph’s is new to 1A this season, having dropped down from 2A last year. Last season in 2A, they went 23-8 overall and carried an 11-1 region mark, losing to Salt Lake Academy in the consolation round.
