As the Halloween season rapidly approaches, the residents of the Castle Country prepare for a plethora of trunk-or-treat events across the area. One of the marquee gatherings is Helper’s annual Main Street Trunk-or-Treat, which prepares for its 2025 rendition on Saturday, Oct. 25.

Organizer Jake Gray joined the KOAL newsroom to discuss the behind-the-scenes planning and what attendees can expect from this annual fare.

“We’ve given our town another opportunity to host an event. We also coordinate this with Price and their big weekend of trunk-or-treats and Main Street activities, so that we can time it. It really is about getting the biggest bang for the buck for the community out there,” said Gray. “Sometimes you just can’t make schedules fit. But we try to do our best for this event so that we can make it successful for everybody.”

Speaking on the evolution of the event throughout the years, Gray explained,” It originally started as just me and my family. And at the end of last year, we decided we wanted to start making this grow. So we’re going to take baby steps this year. But we did add some other members in the community to form a panel of people to come up with ideas. So we have some people out getting sponsor money, which we didn’t do before. To help make it better is mostly my goal. I want it to be successful all around.”

New to the event this year is the addition of awards for the best trunks: “We’re working on some prizes for and we may do a couple. We might do two or three. It’ll just depend on how many prizes we can put together,” said Gray.

He continued,” And then also on our flyer, we added a QR code so you can register for a space this year. You can tell us what kind of trunk you have, and that’ll help us organize to help the flow of the event go better.”

There is no cost associated with registering a trunk for the event. To contact Gray, email JakeG.84526@yahoo.com.

Closing our conversation, Gray shared,” I just encourage everybody to get out. The weather’s usually pretty good. Come out. Join us. When you get done, you’ll have time to head to Price, and they have a couple planned that afternoon.”

Helper’s Main Street Trunk-or-Treat takes place on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10:30 a.m. until noon on Helper’s Historic Main Street.
