
The Lady Spartan ended the soccer season on October 15 on the road in Manti with an 8-0 loss. Emery began the season in new territory, winning five of their first seven games. The first game of the season, against Enterprise on the road, was their first win since October 8, 2022. Emery is a young team looking to build the program over the coming years.
Below is a recap of the 2025 season.
August 5 @ Enterprise-
The Emery Lady Spartans soccer team earned its first win of coach Pennie SteStewart’s tenure on Tuesday at Enterprise. I yria MasoMason’s goals propelled Emery to a big 5-2 victory over the Wolves, starting the season at 1-0 since 2022.
Coach Stewart took over the program in 2023 and has been searching for her first win in two seasons. The great thing about it is that through it all, the team has kept fighting and never given up, and it all paid off on Tuesday.
The Lady Spartans came out firing in the first half, scoring twice, taking a 2-1 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Emery scoring barrage kept coming as they added three more goals while giving up just one more to the Wolves, giving the Lady Spartans the 5-2 win.
Emery senior Illyria Mason scored a hat-trick (three goals) in the victory, Megan Stilson added the other two, and Daley Stewart earned an assist.
Emery will be back on the pitch on Thursday for their home opener when they will take on the San Juan Broncos.
August 7 vs. San Juan-
The Lady Spartan soccer squad posted back-to-back wins for the first time in three years with a 3-1 victory over the San Juan Broncos in front of the home crowd Thursday in Castle Dale.
Emery is coming off a big win over Enterprise on Tuesday, 5-2, and that momentum carried them to a win on Thursday.
Playing in front of the home crowd for the first time, the Lady Spartans did not disappoint, coming out in the first half and finding the back of the net twice, all while holding the Broncos scoreless to take a 2-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Emery scored one more goal, giving up one to San Juan, but held on for the 2-1 victory.
Molly Christiansen collected a goal in the contest, as did Illyria Mason. Stilson and I added a goal and earned an assist, and Daley Stewart had an assist in the win.
Next week, they will jump into region play, traveling to Richfield to face the Wildcats on Wednesday. The game against the Wildcats will mark a long string of road games for the Lady Spartans, as they won’t play at home again until August 25, when they welcome Parowan to Castle Dale.
August 13 @ Richfield-
The Lady Spartans started the soccer season with back-to-back wins over Enterprise and San Juan. On Wednesday, they faced former region member Richfield on the road. The Wildcats found the back of the net six times in the first half as they handed the Spartans a 9-1 loss.
Emery started the season with a 5-2 win over the Enterprise Wolves and followed that up with a 3-1 victory over the Broncos from San Juan, a great start.
Wednesday, they found themselves in familiar territory when they traveled to Richfield to take on the Wildcats. While the Wildcats stayed in Region 12, the Spartans moved to Region 13 this season. Ri Hfield jumped out, putting six goals on the board in the first half, taking a 6-1 lead at halftime.
In the second half, RichRichfield’s spring settled a bit, but they still scored three more, holding the Lady Spartans scoreless to earn a 9-1 win.
Molly Christiansen had the lone goal for Emery in the loss.
August 14 @ Juab-
The Lady Spartans soccer team was looking to rebound from its loss to Richfield earlier in the week when they traveled to Nephi to face the Juab Wasps. Scoring once in each half and only surrendering one goal, they took the 2-1 win.
On Wednesday, the Lady Spartans were in Richfield to take on the Wildcats, losing 9-1. Thursday, the Wasps were on the schedule, and Emery was looking to collect a win.
The Spartans came out in the first half, scoring once and allowing Juab one to go into the half tied. In the second half, the Lady Spartans took the lead and collected the 2-1 win to move to 3-1 this season.
Megan Stilson and Illyria Mason each collected goals in the win for Emery.
The Lady Spartans have two games coming up. On August 19, they will travel to face the Utah Military Academy/Hill Field Thunderbirds, then on Friday, they will face the Millard Eagles on the road.
Emery won’t be back at home until August 25 to take on the Parowan Rams.
August 19 @ Utah Military Academy- Hill Field
Emery Lady Spartan soccer traveled to Clearfield on Tuesday to take on the Utah Military Academy Hill Field Thunderbirds. In a high-scoring affair, the Lady Spartans pulled away with a 6-4 win.
Emery is sitting at 4-1 this season, and the effort that they have put forth over the last two seasons to get to where they are today is starting to show. Emery has had a pretty strong pre-season slate and will get to Region 13 play on September 4, when they take on Carbon.
In the opening half, the Lady Spartans came out gunning and found the back of the net twice, surrendering one to hold the lead going into halftime. In the second half, Utah Military Academy found its offense as well, scoring three times, but Emery would match that and add one more to give them the 6-4 win.
Megan Stilson had a hat trick plus one, scoring four goals for Emery and adding an assist. Illyria Mason scored the other two and had an assist in the win.
The Lady Spartans are back on the road on Friday, traveling to Millard to face the Eagles. The Eagles, who sit at 0-3, will be looking for their first win of the season.
August 22 @ Millard-
Emery Lady Spartan soccer has had an impressive start to its season, logging four wins already, and getting ready to jump into region play. On Friday, they traveled to Millard to face the Eagles. It was a hard-fought battle, going into overtime, with the Lady Spartans taking a 1-0 loss.
The Lady Spartans have earned wins this season over Enterprise, San Juan, Juab, and Utah Military Academy Hill Field, and hold a 4-2 overall mark as they prepare for Region 13 play, starting on September 4, when they square off with Carbon in Price.
The contest itself was a scoreless battle through two halves, ending in regulation. In the first overtime period, Millard scored once, giving them the win.
Emery will get back to the Pitch on Monday when Parowan comes to Castle Dale at 4:00 p.m..
They will end their week on Tuesday when they travel to face Grand.
August 26 @ Grand-
The Lady Spartan soccer squad found themselves in Moab on Tuesday to face the Grand Red Devils. Emery has collected some impressive wins this season, but on the road against Grand, they struggled to find their offense and fell 6-1.
Emery has earned wins this season over Enterprise, San Juan, Juab, Utah Military Academy, and Parowan, bringing its overall record to 5-3.
In the first half, Grand jumped out, going up and down the pitch, using their offense to put three goals on the scoreboard and their defense to keep Emery off the scoreboard.
In the second half, the Lady Spartans got on the board, but had no answers against the Red Devils, who put three more goals on the board to close out Emery and take the 6-1 win.
Illyria Mason had the lone goal for the Spartans with an assist from Megan Stilson.
The Lady Spartans will now take some time off until after Labor Day, when they will travel to Delta to face the Rabbits on Tuesday, September 2.
Two days later, they jump into Region 13 play when they face the Lady Dinos from Carbon in Price.
September 4 @ Carbon
Region 13 play got underway for both Carbon and Emery on the soccer field Thursday when the Lady Spartans traveled to Price. The Lady Dinos came out and found the back of the net nine times in the first half to cruise to an 11-1 win.
The Lady Spartans were coming off a 3-0 loss to Delta on Tuesday that moved Emery to 5-4 on the season. The Lady Dinos hadn’t been on the field since last week when they defeated Juab 5-0 to move Carbon to 8-2.
Carbon jumped out and took control in the first half, finding the back of the net nine times while the Lady Spartans broke the Dino defense, scoring one as the Lady Dinos took a 9-1 lead into halftime.
The second half was slower, with Carbon finding paydirt two more times and holding Emery off the board to claim the 11-1 win.
For the Lady Dinos, Malia Smith earned another hat-trick, scoring three goals and adding one assist for Carbon. Naomi Smith added a pair of goals, Bailey Johnson, Blythe Bradford, Chrissy Jones, Kayla Jones, and Saren Nelson each had a goal and an assist. Kenzie Morgan had one goal, and Maggie Truman and Emma Bowman each had one assist in the win. Madi Barlow had a pair of saves for the Lady Dinos.
Both teams will be back on the pitch next Tuesday. Carbon will be on the road to face the Manti Templars, and The Lady Spartans welcome the North Sanpete Hawks to Castle Dale.
September 9 vs. North Sanpete-
Lady Spartan soccer was back on the field in Castle Dale on Tuesday when the North Sanpete Hawks came to town. Emery has put together some wins this season and seems to be headed in the right direction, but hit a speed bump on Tuesday as the Hawks handed them a 7-0 loss.
Emery has put together a 5-6 overall record this season, but is still searching for that first win in Region 13 play. The Lady Spartans hold the No. 12 spot in the latest rankings from MaxPreps, and are heading into the back half of the season with just seven games left until the playoffs start.
North Sanpete came out on fire, breaking down the Spartan defense, finding the back of the net seven times, and holding the Lady Spartans scoreless throughout to earn a 7-0 win.
Emery will look to regroup as they won’t be back on the pitch until next Tuesday, when they travel to face the Manti Templars.
September 16 @ Manti-
Tuesday, the Lady Spartan soccer team was in Manti to face the Templars in a region tilt. Emery was still looking for their first region win of the season, but the Templars came out on fire, scoring 12 goals in the first half, to take the 12-0 win.
Emery now sits at 5-7 overall and 0-3 in Region 13 play. In the latest rankings, the Lady Spartans sit at No. 14. Manti, on the other hand, carries a 12-1 mark and is 3-1 in conference play, holding the No. 3 spot.
Manti came out flying in the contest and found the back of the net 12 times in the first half. They eased up in the second half, not scoring but keeping the Lady Spartans off the scoreboard as Manti claimed the 12-0 win.
Emery has six games remaining in the season, all region games except the October 10 game against Cottonwood.
Emery is back on the pitch on Thursday when they will welcome the Union Cougars to Castle Dale.
September 18 vs. Union-
The Lady Spartans welcomed the Union Cougars to the soccer pitch on Thursday for a non-region tilt. Emery kept things close, but the Cougars came away with a hard-fought 3-2 win.
With the loss, Emery slips to 5-8 overall and sits at 0-4 in Region 13 play. The Lady Spartans also sit at No. 14 in the latest rankings.
The contest was a battle from the opening kick to the final horn, as both teams were able to exploit each other’s defenses and find scoring opportunities throughout. When the clock hit zero, it was the Cougars coming away with the 3-2 win.
Megan Stilson was the lone goal scorer for the Lady Spartans, collecting both goals in the loss.
This contest marked the end of the first half of the region schedule for the Lady Spartans, who have now played every Region 13 team once. Emery has five games left on the schedule; however, they have one more go-around in league play and will also face Cottonwood in Castle Dale on October 1.
Next on the schedule for Emery is a contest with the Lady Dinos of Carbon in Castle Dale on Tuesday.
September 23 vs. Carbon-
The Lady Spartans faced the Carbon Dinos on the soccer pitch one last time in the regular season on Tuesday in Castle Dale. Carbon jumped out fast, scoring seven goals in the first half, and Emery had no answers for Madi Barlow in goal for Carbon as the Lady Dinos claimed an 8-0 win.
Emery slides to 5-9 overall and sits at 0-5 in Region 13 play; they also sit at No. 14 in the latest rankings. Carbon sits at 13-2 and sits in first place in Region 13 with an unblemished 5-0 mark. The Lady Dinos also own the No. 2 spot in the latest rankings behind the Ogden Tigers.
On Tuesday, Carbon came out fast, putting up seven goals in the first half alone. Emery couldn’t crack the code on Barlow, and the Lady Dinos went to halftime up 7-0. In the second half, things slowed down as Carbon would not only keep Emery off the scoreboard, but they would add one more goal to push the lead to eight and take the 8-0 victory.
Malia Smith once again led the way for Carbon with another three-goal performance, pushing her season total to 40, which is 13 ahead of Sofia Evans of St. Joseph and her 27. Blythe Bradford collected a pair of goals and one assist. Chrissy Jones, Emma Bowman, and Andrea Swasey each scored one goal; Jones also collected four assists in the contest. Naomi Smith and Lydia Lancaster each collected an assist in the win. Barlow had a pair of saves on her way to her seventh shutout of the year.
Carbon heads back to the field on Thursday when they will welcome Manti to Price.
The Lady Spartans will be on the road Thursday to take on North Sanpete in Mt. Pleasant.
September 25 @ North Sanpete-
The Lady Spartan soccer team was on the road in Mount Pleasant to face the North Sanpete Hawks. Despite a hat trick from Megan Stilson, the Lady Spartans fell 6-3 to the Hawks.
The Spartans have only a few regular-season contests left, starting with Tuesday’s non-region tilt against Cottonwood. The season will end on October 10. Emery sits at 4-9 overall and 0-5 in Region 13 play. They also sit at No. 14 in the latest rankings.
On Thursday, North Sanpete came out firing in the first half, finding the back of the net four times. Stilson was able to get one goal for the Lady Spartans as the Hawks took a 4-1 lead into halftime. In the second half, both teams played evenly, with each side scoring two goals, resulting in a 6-3 win for North Sanpete.
Stilson collected all three goals in the contest for the Lady Spartans in the loss.
Emery has three games left in the season, and after being road warriors early, all of them will be played at home, starting on Tuesday when Cottonwood comes to Castle Dale.
October 1 vs. Cottonwood-
October 2 vs. Manti-
The Lady Spartan soccer squad had a pair of home games this week, going 1-1. A win came on Wednesday when they faced the Cottonwood Colts in a non-conference game. On Thursday, they returned to Region 13 play, facing the Manti Templars. The Templars overpowered the Spartans, handing them a 9-0 loss.
Emery is 6-11 overall and 0-7 in region play. In the latest rankings, the Lady Spartans are ranked No. 14.
On Wednesday, the Lady Spartans battled with the Cottonwood Colts. The Colts rank No. 29 in the 4A standings. It was a tight contest, but Emery came out on top 3-2.
Thursday’s region match-up against Manti was a different story. The Templars are 11-4 overall and ranked No. 3 in the latest rankings.
Manti jumped out in the first half and found the back of the net eight times to take the lead at halftime. In the second half, Manti slowed things down, adding just one more and taking the 9-0 win.
The Manti game also served as Senior Night for the Spartans, as they celebrated eight seniors: Kaicee Behling, Illyria Mason, Avey Beagley, Jessie Childs, Megan Stilson, Molly Christiansen, Laynee Monsen, and Ashley Mesler, who will all graduate next spring.
The final contest of the regular season will be on Tuesday, October 7, when the Spartans travel to Roosevelt to face the Union Cougars.
October 7 @ Union-
The Lady Spartan soccer squad traveled to Roosevelt to face the Union Cougars in the final regular-season contest. Emery got on the board first to carry the lead into the half, but Union came back to score four goals in the second half to earn the 4-2 win.
Emery closed the regular season with a 6-12 overall mark, going 0-8 in Region 13 play. The Lady Spartans sit at No. 14 in the latest rankings.
The Spartans owned the first half with Megan Stilson and Molly Christiansen finding the back of the net as Emery took a 2-0 lead at halftime. In the second half, the Cougars came out swinging as they collected four goals to take a 4-2 win to end the season.
Emery will now wait until Saturday, October 11, when the Utah High School Activities Association releases the final rankings and reveals the bracket for the 3A State Championships on the KSL Sports App, at 10:00 a.m..
If the rankings stay where they are right now, the Lady Spartans will travel to Manti to face the No. 3 Templars.
In their two meetings this season, the Templars came away with victories in both.
October 15- Opening Round of State Championships @ Manti-
The season for the Lady Spartan soccer squad came to an end on Wednesday in Manti as they faced the No. 3 Templars. The Templars proved too much for the Lady Spartans as they did the most damage in the first half on their way to an 8-0 victory that ended Emery’s season.
Manti came out in the first half and quickly put seven goals on the board, taking the 7-0 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Templars added one more goal to close out the season for Emery 8-0.
Emery ends the season with a 6-13 mark overall and went 0-8 in Region 13 play. The Lady Spartans collected the most wins in a season since 2022 after Emery was winless over the last two seasons. 2025 was a stepping stone to what is coming.
