The Spartans will dive into the winter sports season literally on Friday and Saturday, as the Emery swim team will be the first team to get things started. Boys’ and girls’ basketball and wrestling will follow suit in the coming weeks as the Spartans say goodbye to fall sports.

The swim team will get things rolling this Friday and Saturday when they travel to Cedar City for the Cedar Invitational. Their first home meet will take place on November 18th against North Sanpete and Delta. Emery will look to build on their fourth-place finish in boys’ competition and 11th-place finish in girls’ competition. They will face Grand and Carbon in Price on November 25. The season will wind down starting on January 24 with the Last Chance Invitational in Price, and the Regional Tournament will take place on January 30. The State Championships will take place on February 13 & 14 at Brigham Young University.

The Lady Spartan basketball squad will begin its march back to the State Championships when they travel to Roosevelt for the Union Tournament. They will have their home opener on December 2 when they take on the Grantsville Cowboys at the Spartan Center. The season came to a close for the Lady Spartans in the Championship game against the Canyon View Falcons. They will face the Lady Dinos on January 20 at the Spartan Center, then close the regular season on February 5 in Price. The opening round of the State Playoffs is set for February 11, with the second round taking place three days later on the 14th. The State Championships will be held at Southern Utah University in Cedar City from February 19-21.

Emery boys’ basketball hits the court on November 21 & 22 on the road for the Ben Lomond Classic, where they will face Roy and Granger. They will have their home opener on November 25 when the Juab Wasps will visit the Spartan Center. The Spartans’ season ended in the consolation semifinals against South Summit, who they will welcome to the Spartan Center on December 12. They will travel to face the Dinos on January 21 in Price, then close the regular season on February 6 in front of the home crowd when the Dinos visit the Spartan Center.  You will be able to watch Emery Spartan boys’ basketball on our YouTube channel, Castle Country Radio Emery, as well as on the KSL Sports app.

The last sport to get started is Spartan wrestling, which will get rolling on November 25 against Duchesne, with matches either in the auxiliary gym or at the Armory. Last Season, a pair of Emery wrestlers earned top-five finishes at the State Championships. The team will travel to Price on December 12 & 13 for the Carbon Duals. The Dinos will visit the Spartan Center on January 1, and the Divisional Tournament will take place on January 23 & 24 at Union High School. The State Championships will be held in Richfield at the Sevier Valley Center on February 4 & 5.
