Our loving sister, a mother to three boys, and a loyal friend to many, Katina “Tina” Renee Lawrence, age 63, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025.

Katina was born on October 6, 1962 to Jean Carolyn Byrd in Washington, D.C.  At the age of 10 and after her birth parents passed, Tina was adopted by her half-sister, Penny Lawrence-LaHaye and Donald Lawrence and welcomed by her new brother and sister, Jim and Dawn.   We grew up together in San Diego while learning valuable life lessons such as patience, empathy and compassion.  Born developmentally disabled, Tina’s life was filled with physical and emotional challenges most of us could not imagine.  Despite this, she had a sharp sense of humor and could lift the mood of a room with her unfiltered wit and independent-minded (some may call it “stubborn”) antics.

Tina fell in love and married Gary Olson in 1982.  They soon moved to Vancouver, Washington and raised three sons, Michael, James and Daniel.  After Tina and Gary went their separate ways and her children were adults, she initially suffered some emotional setbacks but found stability and new love with her long-time partner, Robert.   After Robert’s sudden passing, Tina moved to Provo, Utah in with her son before she eventually found a new, secure home under the quality care of the management and staff at Northeastern Services in 2018.

Katina is survived by her three sons; father,  Donald Lawrence; sister, Dawn Powell; and brothers James Perry and James Lawrence along with her many friends and care-takers in Price.   We will miss Tina for many reasons but will remember a woman who balanced her personal challenges with an exceptionally generous spirit, a warm smile, and who held unshakable love for her sons and family.

Funeral Service, Friday, November 14, 2025, 10:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street, Price, Utah 84501).  The family will receive friends one hour prior to Katina’s service.
