Robert “Bobby” Anthony Rojas, age 71, passed away November 6, 2025 at his home in Orangeville.
He was born December 6, 1953 in Price, Utah to Alvero and Erminia “Minnie” Martinez Rojas. Bobby married the love of his life, Zelda Archibald, on April 28, 1979 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Helper.
Bobby worked for the gas utility company for 20 years, during which time he developed the McGruff Safety Program for children. The program was later implemented within Mountain Fuel and went on to be adopted by all utility companies across Utah. The program quickly spread nationwide and even overseas to Japan and Europe. It was easy to see the vast impact Bobby had made, as McGruff Truck stickers were proudly displayed on nearly every utility truck, indicating that any child in peril could go there for help.
Among his commitment to helping others, Bobby proudly owned and operated The Gas Man Company, and was often referred to as “The Gas Man” by his beloved customers and friends.
He eventually left his career in the gas company and opened his own HVAC contracting business during which time he was devoted to actively helping customers throughout Utah and western Colorado.
Above all, Bobby enjoyed family time spent camping, hunting, and fly fishing. When he wasn’t out spending quality time with his family, Bobby could often be found watching football and cheering on his beloved Chicago Bears.
Bobby’s wife, children and grandchildren were truly his greatest joys in life and his presence will be deeply missed by all the lives he touched through his many years of dedicated love, friendship, and service.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Zelda Rojas, Orangeville; sons, Robert A. (Sarah) Rojas, II, Grand Junction, CO, Earl TR Rojas, Orangeville; three sisters, Teresa (Joe) Jacquez, Logan, UT, Lisa (Jerome) Pehler, Price, Dolly (Richard) Martinez, Salt Lake City; five grandchildren, Ally, Hunter, Raevyn, Jozie and Evelyn.
