
The Dinos traveled to Richfield on Thursday to take on the Wildcats and teams from Manti, Grand, and Emery. When the waters calmed, the Lady Dinos claimed a second-place finish while the boys claimed third.
The Emery Lady Spartans claimed the top spot, scoring 529 points, and Carbon followed with 307. The host, Richfield, finished third with 292, Grand was in fourth with 288, and Manti finished fifth with 130.
The Lady Dinos claimed three top-five finishes in the relays, including a first-place finish in the 200 free with the team of Rachel Blackburn, Kanyon Christensen, Lisa King, and Lily Thayn turning in a time of 1:55.55. The same team would finish in second place in the 400 free. In the 200 medley, Avy Atwood, Christensen, Baelie Erickson, and Josie Jespersen swam to a fifth-place finish.
Individually, Christensen earned a first-place finish in the 500 free with her time of 6:45.06. King earned a pair of first-place finishes in both the 50 free with a time of 27.12 and the 100 free in a time of 1:00.87. Thayn took the top prize in the 200 free, turning in a time of 2:22.66; she also claimed second in the 100-yard breaststroke. Blackburn claimed second in the 200 free and fifth in the breaststroke.
The Emery Spartans also earned the top spot on the boys’ side of the pool, collecting 503 points; host Richfield claimed second with 435, and Carbon came in third, scoring 306. Manti (150) and Grand (40) rounded out the remainder of the field.
Logan Kranendonk was the only member of the Carbon boys’ team to earn a top finish, turning in a time of 1:10.0 in the 100-yard backstroke. He also claimed a third-place finish in the 200 IM. Leland Kespel finished second in the 100 free, Benjamin Arthur finished in fifth in the 200 free, and Cole Arthur took fifth in the 50 free.
The Dinos also earned top-five finishes in the relays. The team of Anderson, Kespel, Kranendonk, and Carson Taylor finished in second place in the 400 relay. In the 200 free, Bryker Sackett, Caden Steele, Asher Thayn, and Taylor swam to a third-place finish, while Carson Bower, Carter Jensen, Cole Arthur, and Joel Seeley earned a fourth-place finish. In the 200 medley relay, Kranendonk, Anderson, Kespel, and Thayn finished fourth.
On Tuesday, the Dinos will travel to Castle Dale to take on the Spartans.
The meet is set to begin at 3:30 p.m..
