
The Lady Spartans traveled to Beaver on Tuesday to take on the Beavers. Emery entered the contest at 2-1 and was looking to put one more in the win column. The Lady Spartans couldn’t get an edge in the game and came up just short, 43-42.
Emery had built its 2-1 record off a pair of wins over Canyon View and Duchesne, with the only loss coming from North Summit.
In the opening quarter, Beaver was the aggressor, taking a quick 14-7 lead at the end of the first. Moving into the second quarter, the Spartans cut into the lead but couldn’t gain an edge, trailing 23-18 at the half.
Coming out in the second half, the Beavers stretched the lead back out as they outscored the Lady Spartans 14-10 to take a 37-28 lead heading into the final quarter. Emery entered the fourth looking to close the gap and take the lead as they turned up their offense and defense, holding the Beavers to just six points in the quarter; however, they came up just short at the end, falling by one, 43-42.
Megan Stilson led the Lady Spartans, scoring 17 points and three rebounds, Kabree Gordon scored ten with six rebounds, and Addie Hurst added seven with a pair of rebounds in the loss.
Emery will welcome the Grantsville Cowboys to the Spartan Center on Tuesday.
Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
