The mood was jovial in Price City Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 25, as the city welcomed its newest officer, Gage Willow. The swearing-in of Willow marks the end of a year-and-a-half-long search for the department.
Taking the podium to introduce Willow, Police Chief Brandon Sicilia shared some background on the new officer: “Officer Willow comes to us from Colorado. He’s actually a Colorado Mesa County boy. He later decided that he wanted to come to Utah, help his brother with some construction.”
It was during his time in Utah that he met his now-wife, Haley.
“What drove Gage to come back was that he’s always wanted to be a policeman. So, he had some good encouragement,” continued the Chief. “Keep in mind, it has taken us now one year and six months to finally fill this vacancy. We’re happy to have Gage here with us. It’s our honor.”
In addition to the excitement of being sworn in as an officer, Willow also recently welcomed his first daughter to the world shortly after graduating from the police academy.
Conducting the ceremony was the honorable Judge John Carpenter of the Seventh District Justice Court. Carpenter read the oath of office, which has Willow swear to support, obey and defend the Constitution of the United States, Utah and the ordinances of Price.
Following this, Willow was officially ordained as Price City’s newest officer.
Castle Country Radio would like to congratulate Officer Willow on his new position and wish him luck as he works to make Price and Carbon County a safer place.
