
On Tuesday evening, the Emery Spartan boys’ basketball squad welcomed the Juab Wasps to the Spartan Center for their home opener. Coming off a pair of road wins, they welcomed the Wasps for their home opener on Tuesday evening.
The Spartans started the season with back-to-back wins against a pair of 5A teams (Roy and Granger). Emery welcomed the Juab Wasps to the Spartan Center.
The two teams started out even in the first quarter, playing to a 9-9 tie after one. In the second quarter, the Spartans got a little space between them and the Wasps, outscoring them 18-13 to take a 27-22 lead to the locker room at the half.
After the break, Emery continued to put distance between them and Juab and had built a 41-32 lead heading to the final eight minutes. The Wasps had a bit of a push in the fourth, but the Spartans kept their distance to take a 59-48 win.
Porter Sitterud led the Spartans with 20 points. Ajay Thomas finshed with 10 and Brek Griffin in the win a Emery moves to 3-0.
The Spartans will return to the court on Wednesday, traveling to Delta to face the Rabbits.
