In an effort to educate Utah citizens about the inner workings of the judiciary, the Utah State Courts are hosting a series of Court Connect Town Halls. This series of events comes to the Castle Country on Thursday, Dec. 11, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Seventh District Courthouse in Price.

Utah Court Connect gives the community the chance to learn about how courts function, how community members can engage with the courts, and what resources are available to the public.

The event serves as an open dialogue to work with the public to increase access to justice through our communities.

“Court Connect is a statewide initiative aimed at strengthening public trust in the courts, expanding access to justice, and increasing awareness of court resources and services,” reads a release from the Utah State Courts. “This free, public event offers community members a chance to engage directly with Judiciary representatives in an informal, welcoming setting.”

The town hall will feature three judges from three different branches of the judiciary, including Judge Jon Carpenter of the Justice Courts, Judge Craig Bunnell of the Juvenile Courts, and Judge Jeremiah Humes of the District Courts.

Each judge will discuss and answer questions from the public about their specific branch of justice and how it serves the community. The event will also feature a broader discussion on topics such as court resources and gathering community feedback.
