On Tuesday evening in Jurassic Park, the Lady Dinos had one thing on their minds as they faced the South Summit Wildcats, revenge. The Lady Dinos’ steady offense led the way, and their defense did exactly what it was supposed to do as they collected the 57-29 win.

Last Valentine’s Day, these two teams met in the second round of the State Championships in a game that was a perfect example of playoff basketball, with neither team wanting to go home. The contest went into double overtime, with the Wildcats coming away with the 51-50 win. This time around, things would be a bit different.

The Lady Dinos came out in the first quarter trying to decide what kind of game they would get from the Wildcats, as Carbon held a slight edge after one, 11-7. Moving into the second, Carbon turned up the offense a little, found their shots, and pushed the lead to 29-18, heading into the locker room at the half.

The second half was all Dinos as they kept South Summit to single-digit scoring in both quarters, outscoring the Wildcats 28-11 and exorcising the demons from the playoffs, taking the 57-29 win.

Bailey Johnson led the way for Carbon with 17 points, two rebounds, and an assist and a steal. Mailia Smith scored ten with five steals, two rebounds, and two assists, and Harley Hopes scored nine with eight boards and a pair of steals.

The Lady Dinos are back on the court Thursday when they will travel to take on the South Sevier Rams.
