
On Friday evening, the Spartans welcomed the South Summit Wildcats to the Spartan Center. The Wildcats took the lead early and never looked back, winning 55-43 over the Spartans, giving them their third loss this season.
The Spartans will wrap up non-region play this week with a match-up against Richfield, then travel to Ephraim and the Snow College campus for the Coach Devin Shakespeare Classic, before beginning their Christmas break.
On Friday evening, the Wildcats were the aggressors, putting South Summit ahead 14-9 after one. In the second quarter, both teams played even, scoring 12 points each, and the Wildcats still held a five-point lead, 26-21, heading into halftime.
In the second half, the Wildcats extended their lead slightly in the third, outpacing Emery 13-10 in the quarter, taking a 39-31 lead into the final eight minutes. Emery came out in the fourth looking to cut into the South Summit lead, but the Spartans couldn’t get the advantage, falling 55-43.
Porter Sitterud led the Spartans with 20 points . Brek Griffin scored six with eight rebounds, three steals, and an assist. Ajay Thowas had five points, five assists, and three rebounds in the loss.
Emery will be back on the court on Wednesday when they welcome the Richfield Wildcats to the Spartan Center.
