The Emery Spartan wrestling squad spent Friday and Saturday at Carbon High School for the Dave Smith Memorial. With ten other schools from across the state taking part, the Spartans went 6-4 with a pair of wrestlers going undefeated.

Dixon Peacock at 126 pounds didn’t lose a match with nine pins and one decision, and Hazen Meccariello at 190 pounds claimed six wins by pin and one decision, finishing out the weekend undefeated as well.

The Spartans competed against all 10 schools, finishing with a record of 6-4. With wins coming against Maple Mountain 2, American Leadership Academy, Delores, Juan Diego, Carbon 2, and Monticello. The loss to Union started the tournament, followed by three more losses to Duchesne, Carbon, and Maple Mountain over the two-day event.

Emery has a busy week ahead, starting on Wednesday when the Spartans travel to Altamont to take on the Longhorns. On Thursday, they will be in Monroe to face the South Sevier Rams, and they wrap up the week at the Western Sports Park in Farmington for the Christmas Clash, before getting a well-deserved rest until after the New Year.
