On Friday and Saturday, the Carbon Dino boys’ wrestling team hosted the annual Dave Smith Memorial Tournament. The Carbon A team turned in a dominant performance, going a perfect 10-0, with three wrestlers going undefeated. The Carbon B squad finished with a 3-6 record, with strong individual showings.
Three members of Carbon’s A team never lost a match: Jantz Greenhalgh was a perfect 10-0 with seven pins and three technical falls; not one of his matches went to a decision. Riker O’Hearon was 10-0 as well with seven pins, one technical fall, and two forfeit victories. Jack Burdick went undefeated with seven pins, two technical falls, and one decision. Koen Labrum went 9-1, Ashdyn Densley, Trace Crespin, Jared Simmons, and Cole Hinkley went 8-2, Gage Lefler, Jaden Barlow, and LaShawn Duran went 7-3. Bryson Ferguson went 6-4, and JJ Munoz went 4-2.
Carbon’s B team had some great individual performances as well, with Jerron Becker going 8-2. Hayden Hunt and JJ Ruden went 6-4.
It will be a busy week for the Dinos, starting on Tuesday when they welcome the South Summit Wildcats to Price, then on Wednesday, the Grantsville Cowboys roll into town. Thursday, they are on the road in Mount Pleasant to take on North Sanpete and then wrap up the week in Farmington for the Christmas Clash.
