At approximately 7:04 p.m. on Wednesday evening, at the crosswalk located at 500 North, 300 East in Price, a 68-year-old pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while crossing the road after a work.

Crossing the street with a group of other pedestrians following a work-related Christmas party, the unidentified 68-year-old was struck by a vehicle, whose sole occupant was a juvenile. Following emergency response, the woman was transported to Castleview Hospital.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that the woman has succumbed to her injuries,” shared the Price City Police Department Thursday morning.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the pedestrian, her family, and those who witnessed this terrible accident,” reads a statement from the PCPD. “ We ask our community to keep all those involved in their thoughts and prayers.”

The cause of the accident is still under active investigation.

In a social media statement, the Carbon County School District identified the woman as Linda Garvin, a fourth grade teacher in the district.

“Our Crisis Response Team has been at the school and will continue to provide services for students and staff,” shared the district. “We have resources prepared for parents to help their children as they process grief. Please contact your child’s school if you need help.”

“Words do not begin to fill the voids and the pain,” reads a release from Price City. “Please keep all involved in your thoughts.”

In the same statement, Mayor-Elect Terry Willis commented, “this is a horrible and tragic accident, our hearts are broken”.

This incident comes a day after a fatal pedestrian v. auto crash in Duchesne, where 19-year-old Kai Cowan was struck by a vehicle and killed while walking in the lane of travel.

This is a breaking story; updates will be provided as they become available.
