Carbon Dino boys basketball is wrapping up its preseason as it gets closer to the Christmas break. On Wednesday, they traveled to Nephi to take on the Juab Wasps. Both offenses were on display, but the Dinos couldn’t keep up with the Wasps, falling 91-71.
After Wednesday’s game, the Dinos have just one remaining before they hit the break. With the loss, the Dinos slip to 4-5 in preseason play.
Both teams came out fired up in the first, opening up their offenses, and after the opening eight minutes, Juab held the slight edge at 25-18. The second quarter was more of the same with Carbon trying to keep the pace set in the first, but the Wasps would increase their lead to 43-31 going into the locker room at halftime.
Coming out in the third, the break did both teams good, as they got right back to it in another high-scoring quarter. Juab outscored the Dinos 27-22, expanding the lead to 70-52. The Dinos had no quit in them as they headed into the final eight minutes once again, almost matching Juab shot-for-shot, but the Wasps had built their lead and earned the 91-71 win.
Carter Warburton led the Dinos with 19. Kyler Orth dropped in 15, and Logan Bennett had 13 in the loss.
The Dinos will be back on the floor once more before the Christmas break on Friday evening when they face the Delta Rabbits.
