Emery High School seniors Tyce Larsen and Beau Stilson both earned 2A All-State first-team selections for their work on the football team, leading seven selections for the Spartans, the Deseret News announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Larsen, a two-year starter, anchored the offensive line at the center position. Leading a group with several new faces, the Spartans relied heavily on Larsen’s leadership and physicality throughout the season.
Stilson’s All-State selection comes from the defensive side of the field as he led the secondary with 61 tackles. The ultimate Swiss army knife, Stilson was utilized at nearly every skill position, including quarterback, where he filled the role due to injuries.
Seniors Tyson Johnson and Jadin Atwood, as well as junior Garrett Conover, all received All-State second team selections.
Johnson, a versatile lineman, started the season at right guard for the Spartans. Joining a unit with several underclassmen, Johnson utilized his previous varsity experience to create production up front.
After setting the school record for most extra points in a season during his junior campaign, Atwood delivered another dynamic season to close out his Spartans’ tenure. A consistent weapon in the kicking game, Atwood’s All-State Honor comes as a punter.
Conover, a two-way player for the Spartans, earned the second-team selection with a variety of dynamic plays. A favorite target for Emery quarterbacks, Conover’s presence on the offensive side of the ball gave the Spartans a gamebreaker to open the offense. Averaging over 10 yards per reception, he finished with seven receiving touchdowns, setting the stage for what could be an impressive senior season in 2026.
Going 3-7 for the 2025 season, the Emery Spartan football squad made it to the opening round of the State Championships, where the Summit Academy Bears handed them a loss. Even though they made an early exit, there were some incredible individual performances. On Thursday, the Deseret News released the annual All-State list recognizing seven Spartans for their accomplishments on the field.
Seniors Tyce Larsen and Beau Stilson were both named to the 2A All-state first team. Larsen was tapped for the honor for his work on the offensive line, and Stilson for his work in the defensive backfield.
Gideon Mecham, a senior linebacker, and Krae LeRoy, a junior defensive back, earned honorable mentions to close out the individual recognition for the Emery football team.
The Spartans played one of the most challenging schedules in the 2A classification, finishing the year 3-7 overall. The season came to an end on Oct. 31 with a 48-14 loss to the Summit Academy Bears in the second round of the state tournament.
The Deseret News All-State teams are based on coaches’ votes from a list of nominated players from each team.
