The Lady Spartans were back to work on the court this time in Ferron at San Rafael Middle School. The Pine View Panthers came calling, and while the two teams swapped baskets in the first half, it was the fourth quarter that did the Lady Spartans in as Pine View claimed a 45-36 win.

This was the first time the Spartans had been on the floor since December 18, a 54-43 loss at Cedar. Emery holds a 6-5 record and sits at No. 3 overall in the latest rankings.

The Lady Spartans came out a little flat in the opening quarter as the Panthers held them to three points, while Pine View collected 12 to take the lead. The second was almost a flip-flop of fortunes as Emery scored 12,  surrendering just seven in the quarter, with the Spartans facing a more manageable deficit, 19-15 at halftime.

In the third, Emery came out and outscored the Panthers 16-14 to cut into the Pine View lead, 34-31. In the final quarter, the Panthers turned it back on, outscoring the Lady Spartans by five to close them out and take the 45-36 victory.

Kabree Gordon led the Spartans with seven points, seven rebounds, and a steal. Skylee Guymon and Aleeyah Cowley each scored six, with Guymon adding five rebounds and five steals, and Cowley grabbing five boards in the loss.

Emery will be back on the floor at San Rafael on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., when they welcome the Duchesne Eagles. This is the second meeting between the two teams this season. On November 21, the Spartans handed the Eagles a 53-27 loss at the Union Tournament in Roosevelt.
