
The Spartan wrestling team was on the road over the weekend in Richfield to take part in the Utah Winter Classic. With 23 teams competeing, Emery as a team finished in seventh place overall, with Dixion Peacock taking first place individually at 126 pounds.
Timpanogos finished in first, followed by Hurricane in second. Cedar Valley, Carbon, and Pleasant Grove closed out the top five, with the Spartans coming in seventh.
Dixon Peacock went a perfect 6-0 at 126 pounds, taking the win in the Championship by sudden victory in a match that went down to the wire against Evan Craner of Grantsville.
Ryan Collard went 3-1 at 138 pounds, falling in the Championship round to Liam Armstrong of Hurricane by pin to finish in second. Dayton Farley finished with a record of 4-2 at 144 pounds, losing by major decision to Cade Whimpey of Timpanogos in the third-place match to finish fourth. Damon Farley also finished in fourth at 157 pounds, finishing his weekend with a loss in the third-place match against Porter Kemp of Pleasant Grove by an 8-5 decision. Hazen Meccariello claimed a fourth-place finish at 190 pounds with a 4-2 record and a loss in the third-place match to Karter Caperson of Pleasant Grove by a 4-2 decision.
Emery has three different meets scheduled for this week, starting on Tuesday when they travel to take on North Sevier. On Wednesday, they will make the trip to Roosevelt to face Union, and then they will wrap up the weekend with the Irontown Duals in Cedar City.
