While residents across the Castle Country were attempting to solidify their New Year’s resolutions over the weekend, the Emery County Sheriff’s Office was hard at work maintaining one of theirs: keeping drugs off the streets of the county.
This goal came to a culmination with a traffic stop in Green River, Utah, which led to the seizure of 26.8 pounds of methamphetamine and the arrest of the alleged suspect.
Speaking of the seizure, Emery County Sheriff Tyson Huntington discussed the partnership with the Grand County Sheriff’s Office that aided in the apprehension: “K-9 Deputy Zora from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office made a positive indication for controlled substances during her deployment at the vehicle.”
Continued the Sheriff,” I am continually thankful for Sheriff Jamison Wiggins of Grand County and his deputies for the help they provide in combating the drug problem in eastern Utah. They truly understand working for the greater good, regardless of location.”
This bust continues the long-standing partnership between ECSO and GCSO, which previously, in November of 2025, saw the agencies seizing over 80 pounds of schedule one drugs during a traffic stop.
“ECSO and GCSO working together have seized unprecedented amounts of controlled substances in Green River and within the I-70 corridor in Emery and Grand Counties,” concludes the Sheriff’s statement.
