Two members of the Carbon boys’ wrestling squad competed at the 25th annual Ross Brunson Utah All-Star Duals at Utah Valley University on Tuesday. Jantz Greenhalgh and Riker O’Hearon both came away with first-place prizes.
The Utah All-Star Duals are an invitation-only event. The event this year featured 65 of the state’s top wrestlers, invited by USA Wrestling Utah. They are broken up into four teams: 6A-5A, 4A-3A, 2A-1A, and then a wild-card team.
Greenhalgh faced Reid Harris from Syracuse in the 106 M2 grouping. In a match that went to the wire, it was Greenhalgh who walked away with a 10-4 decision.
O’Hearon has had just as good a season as Greenhalgh and is looking forward to defending his state title at the championships. In the 144 M2 class, O’Hearon faced Daxton Bonner of Wasatch, taking the victory by technical fall.
This is just the beginning of a busy week for the Carbon wrestlers. On Wednesday, they will travel to Morgan to take on the Trojans. They then head to Salina to take on the North Sevier Wolves on Thursday before ending the week at the Tournament of Champions in Vernal on Friday and Saturday.
