In October, the Utah Board of Higher Education announced the appointment of Brad L. Mortensen as the new president of Utah State University. Now that Mortensen is set to be officially inaugurated into the position, he plans to embark on a statewide tour to USU’s many statewide campuses from Jan. 12 to Jan. 16 – including a stop at USU Eastern in Price.

“I am looking forward to engaging with our students, faculty, staff and community members,” Mortensen said. “Utah State has such a unique structure in how we fulfill our land-grant mission. I can’t wait to hop on the bus and get to know all of these areas better as we look to meet and adapt to needs of the communities we serve.”

Beginning on Monday, Jan. 12, Mortensen will make stops in Brigham City, Tooele and Salt Lake City, and will host a town hall at each venue.

On Tuesday, Jan. 13, Mortensen enters eastern Utah with a town hall at the university’s Uintah Basin campus in Vernal.

Wednesday, Jan. 14, continues the previous day’s endeavors with town halls in Moab at 8:45 a.m. and in Blanding at 3:45 p.m.

On Thursday, Jan. 15, Mortensen officially enters the Castle Country, with a town hall for students and stakeholders at 9 a.m. at USU Eastern. Following this meeting, Mortensen will travel to the Carbon County Airport to participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the school’s aviation maintenance hangar at 11 a.m.

Concluding the tour, Mortensen will return to Logan for his Presidential Inauguration Celebration on Friday, Jan. 16. The ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. The ceremony will be streamed live on the school’s Aggie Cast platform.
