The Dino boys’ wrestling squad traveled to Vernal last Friday to take part in the Tournament of Champions. With almost 40 teams attending, the Dinos finshed in 13th place at the event.

Host Uintah finished in first, with the team from Juab High School taking second. Green River, Wyoming, Falcon, and Montrose comprised the top five.

Ashdyn Densley went a perfect 4-0 over the event, taking first place with a win in the Championship match over Joshua Garcia of Uintah by a 10-6 decision.

Jack Burdick claimed a fourth-place finish at 157 pounds, going 4-2 but falling in the third-place match to Maddux Hintz of Green River by technical fall.  At 120 pounds, JJ Munoz claimed a sixth-place finish, going 5-3, falling to Bennett Weight of Salem Hills in the fifth-place match by pin. Jared Simmons finshed in sixth in the 285-pound weight class as Jake Adams of Juab handed him a loss in the fifth-place match by pin.

As the march to divisionals continues, the Dinos face another busy week starting on Tuesday when they travel to Richfield to take on the Wildcats. On Wednesday, the team will celebrate its seniors at the final home match of the regular season when Union comes to town. On Thursday, they will visit the Spartans Center to take on Emery, and then will wrap up the weekend at the Rumble in Farmington.
