Robert “Bob” Pollitz, age 73, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026. He was at home with his wife, Sheree by his side.

Bob was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 30th, 1952. He was adopted by Richard and Bernice Pollitz in 1956 and grew up with four younger sisters. Bob was a talented musician and enjoyed playing the guitar and keyboard in a high school band even through his final days, as his body allowed. In addition to music, he loved photography, taking photos in school and beyond. Bob graduated from Highland High School in Indiana in 1970.

1971 was a big year for Bob. He was drafted and joined the United States Air Force where he trained as a firefighter. Serving in the military was something he remained proud of until his final breath. Bob also married his sweetheart Patricia Koleff in 1971, and though later divorced, Pat has remained an important part of his life and is someone he considered a lifelong friend. They had two children together, Ryan and Michelle, whom he affectionately called “Peaches”.

Bob started working as a steel integrity inspector in the 1970’s and kept meticulous records of all the many projects he worked on, some of which include casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, the LDS conference center, the Salt Palace, and perhaps, as an avid Jazz fan, the most important was the Delta Center. Bob took great pride in his career and held multiple certifications. He was in charge of quality assurance and trained and mentored many others in the field.

In 1985, Bob married Sheree Jensen. They would spend the rest of his life together. He loved, appreciated, and lived for her. They had two children, Byron (BJ) and Stephanie. They later adopted Sarah from foster care, a blessing which helped her to still be a part of her siblings lives who were also adopted and became cousins. During their time together, Bob continued advancing his career as well as joining the neighborhood mobile watch which he spent many nights volunteering for. His years with the mobile watch resulted in many new friends including his best friend Ray who has been a blessing these past few years taking him out shopping and reminiscing whenever possible.

The most important thing to Bob was family. Of all his titles, “Dad” and “Papa” were his favorites. He helped coach soccer and little league baseball and supported many after school activities. He took the family fishing, target shooting, and to more movies than could be counted. He enjoyed a good family meal at home or dining out, and loved going to Jazz games.

In 2008, Bob was able to find his oldest daughter Jennifer who he had been searching for since she was born in 1970. Words cannot convey properly how happy he was to have found her and to get to know her and his grandchildren. Family truly is the force that kept Bob going. Thanks to DNA tools he was able to connect with half siblings and cousins and learn about his birth father’s side of the family over the past few years. In 2024, he connected with a nephew who was able to provide enough details that he was able to find out about his birth mom and her family. Learning where he came from brought him the peace he had been searching for his whole life. Even in his final days, Bob was in contact with his newly found family. Bob could be sarcastic and blunt, but he had a heart bigger than most; and no matter what day of the week it may be, it was, “Not bad for a Monday.”

Bob is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sheree Jensen Pollitz; children, Jennifer Cerny, Ryan Pollitz, Michelle (Jerry) Jacobson, Byron (BJ) Pollitz, Stephanie (Benjamin) Moody and Sarah Pollitz; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents as well as his parents-in-law and brother and sister-in-law, all of which he loved enough to leave out the in-law title. Bob had faith in God and is without a doubt resting in the company of Jesus until he will be reunited with those who he left behind.
