Friday night, the Carbon Dinos welcomed the Manti Templars for a region tilt. The game started out quickly with Carbon holding the lead at halftime, but the Templars slowly chipped away at the Carbon lead, taking the lead back by the end of the third. The Dinos fought back, tying it up in the 4th, but the Templars took control in overtime, taking the 81-74 win.

The Dinos have just five games remaining in the regular season and are 6-11 overall, with a 1-2 record in region play. They also hold the No. 12 spot in the latest MaxPreps and Utah High School Activities Association rankings.

In the first quarter, both teams came out fast with the Templars taking a 19-13 lead after one. In the second quarter, the Dinos found their offense and defense, scoring 20 points and holding the Templars to just eight, taking a 33-27 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Templars took the lead back, putting 28 on the board and holding Carbon to just 18 in the quarter, outscoring them by 10 and taking a four-point lead, 55-51, into the fourth. In the final eight minutes of regulation, both teams fought hard to close out the other, with Carbon holding a slight edge, outscoring Manti 15-11. The fourth quarter ended with the game tied at 66, sending it to overtime.

In overtime. Manti went on a run, scoring 15 in the quarter while holding the Dinos to eight, taking an 81-74 win in the region contest.

Carter Warburton and Kyler Orth both scored 16 for the Dinos in the contest. Ty Mortensen added 12, and Logan Bennett 11 in the loss.

Next up for the Dinos is a visit from the Emery Spartans on Wednesday evening. The Spartans will enter the contest at 11-7 overall and 2-1 in region play, holding on to the No. 4 spot in the latest rankings.
