The Carbon and Emery swim squads traveled to Cedar City for the Cedar Invitational. The Invite is a good place to fine-tune for the upcoming postseason, as there is just one regular-season meet remaining on the schedule.
The Cedar Invitational is the penultimate meet of the season, leaving just one meet left, the aptly named Last Chance Invite that will take place Saturday at the pool in Price. The following week, the Regional tournament will also take place in Price, with the State Championships slated for February 13 & 14 at Brigham Young University.
The Spartans’ only first-place finish came in the boys’ 200 medley relay, with the team of Thomas Black, Trek Peterson, Reve Mason, and Jamison Christiansen, who crossed the finish line in 1:43.55.
Individually, Reeve Mason finshed with a second place in the 100 fly, turning in a time of 56.67, and a third place finish in the 200 IM at 2:11.89. For the Lady Spartans, Illyria Mason finished in second place in the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:08.95, and Halllie Frandsen finished third in the 100 fly with a time of 1:07.10.
For the Lady Dinos, the relay team of Lisa King, Lily Thayn, Maya Bower, and Kanyon Christensen finished third in a time of 1:53.53. King claimed a pair of third-place finishes with a time of 26.26 in the 50 free and in the 100 free, turning in a time of 58.24.
