
Over the weekend, the Carbon Dino boys wrestling squad traveled to Farmington to take part in the Royal Rumble. This was the final regular-season meet before divisionals, and of the 30 teams that participated, the Dino boys finished 15th.
The squad from Layton earned the top spot, followed by Slam, a team from Nevada, in 2nd place. Juab, Spanish Fork, and Windsor, Colorado, rounded out the top five.
At 106 pounds, Jantz Greenhalgh got things started, going a perfect 4-0, and claimed first place with a technical fall over Jack Holman of Juab, 15-0. At 138 pounds, Riker O’Hearon continued his march towards a repeat state championship, claiming another first place in the championship round over Anthony Delgado of Slam by an 11-9 decision.
Jack Burdick at 157 lb went 4-2, finishing fifth overall, fighting his way all the way to the 5th place match, where he defeated Steele Woodward of South Summit by pin.
Carbon has now entered the postseason and will travel to Richfield this weekend for the Divisional round.
After that, it will be time for the State Championships, which will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, February 4th and 5th, at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield.
