On Friday evening, the Carbon Dino boys basketball team welcomed the Union Cougars to Price. With the season winding down, every game is important now in region play, and this one just got away from Carbon as they fell 73-69.

Carbon sits at 7-12 overall and 2-3 in region play with the No. 12 spot in the latest rankings by MaxPreps and the Utah High School Activities Association. With three games left in the regular season before the State Championships begin, Carbon is looking to gain ground wherever possible.

The game on Friday night started out very evenly matched, as both teams traded baskets in the first quarter, with Union coming out with a slight Advantage, 19-16, after one. In the second, Carbon came out and did just enough to take a slight edge, outscoring the Cougars 17-14 in the quarter and tying things up at 33-33 as both teams headed to the locker room.

The third quarter was when Union created a bit of space between themselves and the Dinos, outscoring them 29-24 and taking the lead back 62-57 as the two teams headed for the fourth and final quarter. In the final eight minutes, the Dinos tried to overcome the deficit, but we were unable to close the gap enough, falling to Union 73-69.

For the Dinos, Jakson Bosone scored 16, and Carter Warburton and Logan Bennett each had 13 in the loss for Carbon.

Up next for the Dinos, they will welcome the North Sanpete Hawks on Friday, January 30th. Earlier this month in Mount Pleasant, these two teams clashed, with the Dinos suffering a 77-59 loss to the No. 14 North Sanpete team.
