Bonnie Rasmussen Freeman, age 84, gently passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, surrounded by her devoted family and wrapped in love.

Bonnie was born on March 3, 1941, in Orem, Utah, to Neal and Margie Ralphs Rasmussen. She spent her childhood in Ferron, where she formed lifelong friendships and graduated from South Emery High School. Those early years shaped her compassionate spirit and deep devotion to family.

Bonnie’s life was one of love, resilience, and unwavering devotion. She married Jim Richardson, and together they had two children before later divorcing. Soon after, Bonnie found her true soulmate, Walter Freeman. They were married on March 21, 1965, in Elko, Nevada, beginning a partnership that would span more than six decades. Together, Bonnie and Walt welcomed five additional children, blending their lives into a family of nine and creating a home filled with laughter, warmth, and togetherness.

Home, for Bonnie, was never defined by a place, but by the people she loved. Because of Walt’s career, the family lived in several communities, including Salt Lake City, Ferron, Nephi (Utah), Elko (Nevada), Hagerman (Idaho) and Mesa (Arizona). No matter where life took her, Bonnie’s nurturing heart and welcoming presence made every house a true home.

Family was Bonnie’s greatest joy. She cherished her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, delighting in every milestone and memory. She found deep happiness in cheering on her loved ones, celebrating their accomplishments, and sharing her wisdom, humor, and unconditional love across generations.

Bonnie was an active and dedicated member of her community, proudly serving as President of WBBA Little League Baseball in Emery County. She loved supporting young athletes in her community.

Her passions were many. Bonnie was an avid card player, a fierce BINGO competitor, and always enjoyed the thrill of scratch-off tickets. She loved reading, bowling with friends and family, and later in life embraced technology, finding connection and entertainment through games on her tablet.

Bonnie’s joyful spirit was unforgettable. Always ready with a joke, her iconic laughter could light up any room. Her ability to find joy in life’s simple pleasures brought comfort and happiness to everyone around her.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the ICU staff at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center in Gilbert, Arizona, for their compassionate care during Bonnie’s final days, and to her grandson, Tanner Hackney, for his dedicated care after her passing along with the wonderful staff at Mitchell Funeral Home. Special thanks are also given to Walt, whose unwavering love and devotion beautifully embodied the meaning of partnership—through sickness and in health.

Bonnie leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and laughter. She is survived by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Walt; her children: Rory (Vicki) Richardson of Mesa, AZ; Norm (Jodi) Richardson of Huntington, UT; Julie (Gerald Watson) Freeman of Mesa, AZ; Phillip (Ashli) Freeman of Ferron, UT; Philene (Jon) Kepler of Hagerman, ID; Edie (Don) Campbell of Ferron, UT; and Tara Pendley of Elko, NV; 22 grandchildren; 35½ great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Sharon Barney.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law Kevin Pendley; grandchildren Jobey Pendley, Michael Kepler, Lucas Freeman, and Trisha Staley; and her beloved pets, Boots, Odie, and Zoey.

The life Walt and Bonnie built together stands as a beautiful testament to enduring love—steadfast, joyful, and full of laughter. Bonnie will be remembered for her boundless generosity, playful spirit, and the love she gave so freely to all who knew her.
