The Carbon Dinos were on the road Wednesday evening, traveling to Manti to face the Templars. With the Dinos looking forward to Friday’s matchup, they couldn’t afford to overlook the Templars, and they did not. Leading the way, Carbon collected the 69-62 win.

Carbon is sitting at 8-13 overall and 3-4 in Region 13 play, and with the rankings removed, we will wait until Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m., when MaxPreps and the Utah High School Activities Association will release the final rankings as well as the bracket for the State Championships that will start on February 13th.

Carbon was in control of the contest from the beginning, coming out in the first to take the early lead 18-13. In the second, the Templars were the aggressor, slightly outscoring the Dinos to cut into their lead as both teams went to the locker room with Carbon still holding a slight edge at 33-30.

The Dinos worked their way around the Templar defense, outscoring Manti 20-18 in the third to push the lead back to five at 53-48. In the fourth, it was more of the Dinos, as they kept their distance from the Templars, never relinquishing the lead they had built, and earned the 69-62 region win.

Logan Bennett led the way for Carbon, scoring 18. Cash Withers and Kyler Orth each had 15, and Carter Warburton scored nine in the win.

Up next for the Dinos, they will close out the regular season on the road in Castle Dale to take on the Emery Spartans.

Emery enters the contest at 14-8 overall and 5-2, earning a share of the Region 13 title on Wednesday evening with their win over North Sanpete. On January 21, the Spartans traveled to Price and came up short, 64-57.
