On Friday evening, Carbon and Emery closed out the regular season, and on Saturday morning, MaxPreps and the Utah High School Activities Association released the final rankings and bracket for the 3A State Championships. The Emery Spartans earned the No. 4 spot and will start the postseason at home in the Spartan Center. The Dinos finshed at No. 11 and will take to the road to open the tournament.
Emery will welcome the No. 13 Logan Grizzlies to Castle Dale on Friday, February 13, at 7:00 p.m. Emery finished the regular season with a 14-9 overall, and earned a share of the Region 13 title with a 5-2 record. The Grizzlies enter the post-season going 5-17 and 5-5 in Region 12, finishing fifth. The teams haven’t faced each other this season, but they do have some common opponents. Both teams have faced the Carbon Dinos and lost in those contests. The Spartans and the Grizzlies both took on the Ogden Tigers. Emery claimed a win in the lone contest between the two, while the Grizzlies split the season series. Another team they both faced was American Heritage, and while the Spartans earned a win, Logan lost both region contests.
The Emery game will be broadcast live on KOAL 107.3 FM and 750 AM, with a video stream on our YouTube channel, Castle Country Radio- Emery. The Landon’s Diesel Service Pregame Show will start at 6:30, and tip-off will begin at 7:00.
At No. 11, the Dinos will travel to take on the Delta Rabbits. The Rabbits come in at No. 6 and will host Carbon on Friday, February 13th, at 7:00 p.m. Back on December 19th, the Rabbits traveled to Price to face the Dinos and left with a 70-63 win. On that night, Rabbits’ senior Brody Cleaver led all scorers with 30 points, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out two assists. For the Dinos, Ty Mortensen led the way with 15 points and four rebounds, and Kyler Orth had 10 with three rebounds.
Even though the Dinos will be on the road, Castle Country Radio will have you covered as we will make the trip to Delta to bring you the contest on KRPX 95.3 The Peak, as well as on our YouTube channel, Castle Country Radio- Carbon. The Landon’s Diesel Service Pregame Show will start at 6:30, and tip-off will begin at 7:00.
