On Sunday, February 15, 2026, Gloria Lorraine Bianchini Skerl, loving mother, grandmother, and aunt, passed away peacefully at the age of 97 at her home with family by her side.
Gloria was born in Helper, Utah on September 2, 1928, to Enrico and Adeline Seppi Bianchini. She was their only child. Her father passed away when she was five and her mother remarried, Louis Bolognesi. This union gave her a sister, Della, whom she loved very much.
On June 19, 1949, she married her dancing partner, John M Skerl, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. They were together 68 years until his death in 2017. She worked various jobs throughout her life; the longest being an Administrative Assistant for 29 years at various schools starting at Spring Glen School and ending at the Castle Valley Center which she loved.
Mom enjoyed many activities; Helper Dinner Dance, gardening, watching Notre Dame football, sitting on the deck at the family cabin in Scofield, and attending the monthly dinners at the Slovenian Home. She was always cooking and teaching the traditional family recipes for her family and adopted family members. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church where at 12 years old she started using her beautiful singing voice in the parish choir for 80 years. She was proud to been named woman of the year in 2018. She enjoyed being apart of the committee for the 1946 Class of Carbon High reunions. Lifetime member of the Stella D’America Lodge 77.
Gloria is survived by four children, Trudy, Jona (Mark), Michael, and Lisa; and her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Enrico and Adeline Bianchini; step-father, Louis Bolognesi; and her sister, Della Bolognesi Heller.
A special thanks to the Symbii Hospice Team; especially, Tianna and Ariel for helping with her care and support of her family.
In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church or charity dear to your heart.
