The Utah State Eastern women’s basketball team welcomed the Colorado Northwestern Community College Spartans for their final matchup of the season. The Eagles held the season series lead with two wins and were looking for a third-straight over CNCC.

The Eagles started the game with a 9-0 run behind five quick points from Marlee Pieper. The Eagles continued to dominate on defense, holding the Spartans to just 7 points in the first quarter. Eastern led 17-7 after the first period.

Eastern continued its dominance in the second quarter, maintaining a double-digit lead throughout. At the end of the first half, the Eagles led the Spartans, 38-19. Skylie Barker was the leading scorer for the Eagles after a 15-point half.

The Eagles opened the second half with a 12-0 run, continuing to extend their lead over CNCC. In the quarter, Eastern’s lead extended to as many as 31 points. USU Eastern led 58-27 at the end of the third quarter.

An Addasyn Scrivner jumper with five minutes left in the game pushed Eastern’s lead to 40. An overall dominant performance gave Eastern an 81-40 win over the Spartans.

Skylie Barker led the Eagles with a career-high 35 points. Barker went 13-23 from the field and 5-7 from the three-point line. Marlee Pieper finished just one rebound short of a double-double with a 16-point, 9-rebound performance.

Next for the Eagles is Sophomore Day, their last home game of the regular season. They will host Salt Lake Community College on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 1:00 p.m.
