Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and longtime friend, John Roy Tucker, 87, passed away Monday, March 2, 2026, surrounded by his family.

John Roy Tucker was born February 17, 1939, in Cleveland, Utah to John Ward and Cecilia Ruth Jensen Tucker. He was the oldest of four boys… a set of twins Roy and Voy, followed by Cloye and then Deloye.

Roy married the love of his life, Deloris Grange on February 13, 1965, in Huntington, Utah, they were sealed in the Manti Temple on August 20, 1976. Together they had three children: Christine, Marlene and Duston Roy.

From a young age, Roy loved working on the farm alongside family. They would help their dad haul hay by driving the truck. Then they would take turns, one operating the steering wheel, while the other operated the pedals.

Roy was a carpenter for 50 years and he helped build the Joe’s Valley, Flaming Gorge and Lake Powell Dams. Roy helped build the Eagle Gate Bridge, the Power Plant in Huntington Canyon as well as the Hunter Power Plant in Castle Dale. He later helped build the Conference Center in downtown Salt Lake as well as the Nauvoo Illinois and Snowflake Arizona temples.

Roy loved horse and chariot racing, and he spent many years doing both. He was a member of the Junior and Senior Riding Club, as well as the Blue Ridge Riders.

Roy and Deloris served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together they served in the cannery in Castle Dale from March 2013 to March 2015.

Roy taught his kids and grandkids how to work hard and to work on the farm. Many memories were made on that farm.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deloris; three children, Christine (Ed) Walls, Marlene (Bret) Fausett and Duston (Tereasa) Tucker; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and his two brothers, Voy and Deloye.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, John Ward and Cecilia Ruth; brother, Cloye; and a great-grandchild, Dusty Tucker.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dalen Johnson, and Tiana and Thomas McElprang for the care and compassion they have shown to our beloved Roy.
