
The Utah State Eastern baseball team continued its homestand with a four-game series against the Treasure Valley Community College Chukars. The games finished a weekend of seven games in four days for the Eagles.
The series started with a dominant 11-0 run-rule win for the Eagles. Jake Lindsay and Truman Duryea dominated the day at the plate with three RBIs, and Logan Burgess added a home run to the total. Harley Vicchrilli tossed the five-inning complete game. He finished with six strikeouts and allowed just three hits.
The Eagles continued their hot streak in the second game, run-ruling the Chukars to finish the doubleheader, 8-0. Truman Duryea had three RBIs, including a solo home run, while Jose Pereira added two of his own. After an injury, Austin Burton tossed six scoreless innings, with nine strikeouts, to earn the win on the mound.
The third game of the series was the closest contest of the weekend. Treasure Valley took an early 2-0 lead after the second inning. The Eagles responded with six unanswered runs, leading to a 6-2 win. Jace Olsen homered twice for the Eagles, and Cam Ford also put one over the fence in the contest. Truman Duryea got the win after an eight-strikeout complete game.
To finish the weekend, the Eagles exploded for a 15-3 win to sweep Treasure Valley. Jake Lindsay and Peyton Adams homered in the contest. Lindsay finished with five RBIs while Adams added four. Makaio Swensen tossed a complete game, allowing just one earned run on three hits.
The sweep gives Eastern an eight-game winning streak that dates back to February 22. The Eagles will be back on the field for another three-game series against the Community Christian College Saints. Games are scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
