Following a period of planning and preparation, Carbon High FCCLA members Zander Carrillo and Abby Bryant are ready to host their Pastabailties event Monday beginning at 3 p.m.

The duo joined the KOAL newsroom to provide a final plug for the event and to thank the Castle Country for all the community support it has delivered.

Speaking first on the pair’s donation drive leading up to Pastabilities, Bryant gave a look at the numbers,” We got tons of support from the community, and we ended up with over 1,200 donations of clothing, 400 hygiene products, and about 200 food products.”

The event will feature a studio-style shop with food, clothing and hygiene products. Additionally, Farlaino’s Cafe will be providing a pasta dinner from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. as a part of the event. “We have everything just trying to put in one place to not only help some people in the community that might need it, but to just get everybody together in the community,” said Carrillo of the event.

Looking at the preparation for the event, Bryant shared an insider’s perspective on the process,” We’ve been setting it up by the building next to Farlaino’s, and we’ve been cleaning it and just decorating it, making it as comfortable as we can make it for today so everything runs smoothly.”

Carrillo added a shoutout to Farlaino’s,” No matter how many people there are, Farlaino’s is ready to accommodate.”

He added, “Just all the donations from the community have been amazing to see that we’re all just getting together to try and help everyone out.”

Moving into the nitty-gritty, Carrillo gave a look at what attendees can expect from Pastabilities, “Our studio style shop with our hygiene products, nonperishable food items, substance abuse resources, all of that in the shop part before dinner is from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The building is the old Savoy club, which is right next door to Farlaino’s. So parking would be on Main Street or in the back area for that.”

Carrillo continued, “And then the dinner will also be held in that as well as in Farlaino’s when people start coming in. We’re going to start going over to Farlaino’s for a few people over there, as well as sitting there, we have standing seating and tables as well for the food from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.”

Looking at the event from a personal perspective, the duo reflected on the biggest lesson they learned from planning it: “I feel like the biggest lesson is that you should always try to give back as much as you can,” shared Bryant. “Like obviously there’s been tons of work, but we can just start somewhere, and I feel like it’s very necessary to give back if you can because it’s really important and it really does help people.”

Carrillo echoed this sentiment,” I think it’s important to be grateful for what you have, especially if you don’t realize it, whether it’s just the clothes on your back, just to really be grateful for what you have.”

Pastabilities takes place on Monday, March 9, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., with the studio-style shop at the old Savoy Club Building at 81 West Main Street in Price and the pasta dinner at Farlaino’s Cafe at 87 West Main Street.
