It is with great sadness that the family of Jama I. Grundy announce the passing of our sweet beloved mother at the age of 96.
Jama was born October 7, 1929 in Helper, Utah to Nicola and Vittoria Priano Capece in the home her “Papa” built.
Mom married the love of her life, Robert E. Grundy in Price, Utah on June 28, 1948, and from that union they had four wonderful children.
Jama worked at the phone company in Helper, Luckies Drive Inn, Price Trading Co., and Sally Mauro Elementary; but her most cherished job was caring for her husband and her children: Cathy, Peggy, Ed, and Scott.
She graduated from Carbon High School in 1947 and was a member of the Pep Club. Jama was a faithful parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and was a member of the altar society. She loved camping and fishing with Dad and her annual family trips; their true paradise was spending time at Rock Creek.
Jama was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother and she will be deeply missed by her beloved family and a community of friends.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert E. Grundy; parents, Nicola and Vittoria Capece; her in-laws, Tom and Crystal Grundy; five sisters, Sophie, Florence, Teresa, Mary and Ellen; three brothers, Frankie, Rolley, and Mike; daughter-in-law, Nelda Grundy; and son-in-law, Keith Robb.
Survived by her children, Cathy Robb, Price, UT; Peggy (John) Steele, West Valley, UT, Ed Grundy, Price, UT, and Scott (Joy) Grundy, Mesquite, NV; 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild with one on the way.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Mitchell Funeral Home, especially Bobby, Robbi, and Annette Etzel along with Symbii Home Health and Hospice and her angels: Bonnie Kirkwood, Diane Dalpiaz, Shaela, Casey, Tianna, Thomas, and Ariel. She loved you all very much. Also, a heartfelt thank you to her special niece, Leslie and Ron Tallerico and Jolene Hatch.
“It’s not goodbye, It’s see ya later.”
We love you so much.
