The Lady Dinos golf team welcomed all of Region 13 to the Carbon Country Club Golf Course on Wednesday for the first matches of the season. After last week’s matches were cancelled, everyones sights switched to the Carbon Country Club. The Lady Dinos finished behind the Union Cougars for second place.
Last week’s opening match in Richfield was cancelled due to weather issues, so all the teams were ready to get rolling at the Dinos-hosted tournament.
Union claimed first place overall, shooting a 373, and Carbon finished in second at 444. Emery (457), North Sanpete (458), and Manti (471) made up the rest of the field. The Cougars’ Avery Rasmussen had the low round of the day, turning in an 86.
The Lady Dinos were led by Leah Sweeney, who carded a 104, tying her for eighth place overall. Madi Barlow turned in a 107, Zaya Olsen had a 116, and Kaycee Richardson rounded out Carbon’s scoring five with a 117.
Erin Hurst (123), Sami Leroy (142), Olivia Rondinelli (142), and Jocelyn Frandsen (145) competed for the Dinos as well.
Next week, it will be Emery’s turn, as the region lands on Millsite, the home course of the Spartans.
