The Utah State Eastern women’s basketball team entered the Scenic West Athletic Conference postseason tournament as the No. 2 seed. To open the tournament, the Eagles were given the task of facing the No. 3 seed, Salt Lake Community College.

The beginning of the game set the tone for the rest of the contest. Salt Lake started the contest with an 8-2 run. After cutting the SLCC lead to just four points, the Eagles found themselves down 16-6 at the end of the first period.

In the second quarter, the Eagles scored just eight points. They were outscored 21-8 in the quarter as they entered the half down, 37-14. Skylie Barker led the Eagles with six points in the first half.

The struggles continued for the Eagles in the third quarter. Eastern scored just two points in the first five minutes, and at the end of the period, Eastern trailed 59-28.

Needing a strong comeback, the Eagles did outscore the Bruins 12-9 in the fourth. Unfortunately, the Eagles’ season came to an end, falling 68-40 to the Bruins. Skylie Barker scored a team-high 11 points in the loss.

Eastern finished the season 20-11. They also had a conference record of 11-4.
