James E. Wells was born on October 31, 1954, and passed away peacefully at his home in Cleveland, Utah, surrounded by family on March 14, 2026.
After graduation he joined the United States Army. James then started his career as a journeyman electrician after his service and later retired at Caterpillar where he finished his career as a shop superintendent.
James enjoyed playing acoustic and bass guitar, and in his earlier days, played in a local band “Home Grown.” He took great pride in his log home which he built with his wife Debbie. They finished their home in 2000.
After retiring in 2016, he enjoyed the good life, playing golf, riding his Harley, working on the farm and working out in his shop. He enjoyed camping trips with family and taking his RV to Arizona for the winter.
Anyone who knew James knew he had a tremendous work ethic. He was a prankster at heart and enjoyed the simple things; he didn’t want anyone to make a fuss over him. He enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids, and his dog and best bud Rusty.
We will always remember James for his love of music, outdoors, and his love of his family. We will dearly miss our dad, best friend, and papa.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Debbie Wells; children, Bob (Jenny) Nichols, Price, Utah, Nikki (Ryan) Zimmerman, Saratoga Springs, Utah; stepchildren, Deana Tallerico, Cleveland, Utah, Dustin (Libby) Tallerico, South Jordan, Utah; and 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Preceded in death by his father and mother, Loren and Vernice Wells; and sister, Larna Jensen.
