The Carbon Dino track and field team welcomed schools from throughout the region to Carbon High on Saturday for their annual Farm Bureau Invitational. This meet has become a staple for Carbon over the years, and this go-round saw the Carbon boys take the top spot, with the girls finishing 4th.

Carbon landed in first with 122 points. Five points separated the next three places as Juab finished second with 99, Union had 96 for third, and San Juan finished in 4th with 94. Uintah finished fifth with 49.

The Carbon boys turned in top finishes in a pair of relays. Evan Criddle, Tyke Criddle, Dallin Humes, and Michael Weber took the top spot in the 4×400 relay with their time of 3:42.04. Humes and Weber are joined by Benjamin Simms and Dexter Packard to claim first place in the sprint medley relay with a time of 3:41.56.

In individual events, Matthew Stromness claimed a first-place finish in the 3200 with a time of 10:50.27. Humes finished second in the 400, and Dexter Packard also finished second in the long jump.

It was the Lady Spartans of Emery who claimed the top prize on the girls’ side, scoring 91 points. Uintah came in second with 89. Union scored 88, and the Lady Dinos tied the Grand Red Devils for fourth place with 71 points.

The Lady Dinos captured a first-place finish in the sprint medley relay with the team of Blythe Bradford, Malia Smith, Naomi Smith, and Rozlyn Stowe crossing the finish line with their time of 4:15.24.  Bradford, Malia Smith, Naomi Smith, and Avy Davis finished second in the 4×100 relay.

In individual events, Stowe claimed first place in the 800 with a time of 2:15.46. Josie Yates would take first in the 3200, turning in a time of 12:41.93.

The Dinos will be back on the road this weekend, traveling to St. George on Friday and Saturday for the very competitive Pineview Invitational.
