
The Emery Spartan track and field squad found themselves in Price on Saturday to take part in the annual Farm Bureau Invitational. With schools from throughout the area participating, the Lady Spartans earned a first-place finish in their division. The Spartan boys finished 12th.
It was the Lady Spartans who claimed the top prize on the girls’ side, scoring 91 points. Uintah came in second with 89. Union scored 88, and the Lady Dinos tied the Grand Red Devils for fourth place with 71 points.
The top finishes for the Lady Spartans all came in individual events. Skylee Guymon grabbed three first-place finishes in the 100 with her time of 12.52. In the 100 hurdles, she turned in a time of 14.26, and in the 400, she posted 58.13. Addie Guymon took first place in the 1600 with a time of 5:0493. She also finished second in the 800. Addie Hurst crossed the finish line in second place in the 1600, and Carlie Hurst finished second in the 300 hurdles.
On the boys’ side, Carbon landed in first with 122 points. Five points separated the next three places as Juab finished second with 99, Union had 96 for third, and San Juan finished in 4th with 94. Uintah finished fifth with 49. Emery finished 12th in the boys’ division.
The Spartan boys team of Landon Braun, Brekker Bunnell, Ryder Christiansen, and Zander Robinson claimed a 7th-place finish in the sprint medley relay.
The Spartans will be back on the road this weekend, traveling to St. George on Friday and Saturday for the very competitive Pineview Invitational.
