The Utah State University Eastern rodeo team kicked off the spring season this weekend at the College of Southern Idaho rodeo, returning to competition after the winter break with a strong showing.
Highlighting the weekend was Byron Christiansen in the saddle bronc riding. Christiansen dominated the event with a clean sweep, winning the first round, second round, and the average to lead the teams’ performances.
Howdy Jackson took third in the team roping and secured an eighth-place finish in the tie-down roping, giving him second place in the men’s all-around standings.
In the barrel racing, Saydee Davis delivered a solid run to finish fourth overall against a competitive field.
The strong start sets the tone for the spring semester as the team heads into the remainder of the season with momentum.
