The Carbon boys volleyball squad was looking to get back into the win column on Tuesday evening when they traveled to Grantsville to take on the Cowboys. Coming off a rough outing at the North Sanpete Invitational, against the Cowboys, the Dinos struggled through the first set, and even though they fell in the next two, they were more competitive as the match went on, with Grantsville taking the 3-0 win.
Carbon was coming off a 0-6 performance at the North Sanpete invitational last weekend, falling to teams like Highland, Timpview, and Cedar.
In the opening set, both teams would push it as hard as they could, but the Cowboys would take the win 25-16. Set number two was more competitive, with Carbon pushing Grantsville to the limit and then some, as Grantsville took the win 27-25. In the third and final set, it was another one that took it right to the edge, but Grantsville claimed the 25-23 victory, winning in straight sets three to nothing.
For the Dinos, it was Carter Warburton with 13 kills and nine digs. Kyler Orth had nine kills and four digs in the contest. Grant Mathis and Bryken Preston each had 12 assists in Carbon’s loss.
Carbon will jump into their region schedule on Thursday when they welcome the Manti Templars to Price. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
