The Lady Spartan track and field squad claimed a first-place finish over the weekend at the Pine View Invitational in St. George. With over 40 schools taking part in the event, it is considered one of the most competitive of the season.

Emery claimed the top spot in the girls’ division with 60 points; Corner Canyon finished second with 52. Riverton (48), Snow Canyon (40), and host Pine View (36) rounded out the top five.

Skylee Guymon claimed a pair of first-place and second-place finishes at the event, which made her one of the top scorers for the weekend. In the 100 hurdles, she finished with a time of 14.39. Next up was the 300 hurdles, where she claimed another first-place finish with a time of 41.92. Guymon went on to collect two second-place finishes in the 200 and the 400 meters as well.

Addy Guymon finished second in the 800 and 3200 and claimed third in the 1600. In the 100 and 300-meter hurdles, Carlie Hurst finished third and sixth, respectively, with Kabree Gordon finishing ninth in the 100 and tenth in the 300. Megan Stilson claimed a ninth-place finish in the high jump.

In the boys’ division, it was Orem taking top honors with 58 points, and American Fork finished second with 44. Bonneville (40), Morgan (38), and Herriman (37) rounded out the top five.

For the Spartans, Mateo Arnaudet finished 37th in the 300 hurdles, with Daxton Larsen taking 51st. Zander Robinson took 49th in the 400 and 79th in the 800, and teammate Landon Braun finished 129th.

The Spartans will now be off until Friday, March 27, when they will travel to Roosevelt to take part in the Strata Invitational, hosted by Union High School.
