
The Emery Spartan soccer team traveled to Manti to face the Templars on Wednesday afternoon. After the opening half, Emery was down 2-1, but the Templars used the second half to open the offensive floodgates, adding five goals, taking the 7-1 win.
Emery sits at 2-8 overall and holds a 0-3 region record, and with the pre-season in the past, it will be all about conference play the remainder of the season.
The first half was very competitive, as the Spartans collected one goal and held the Templars to a pair of scores, leaving Manti up 2-1 at the break.
In the second half, Manti took advantage of Emery’s mistakes to the tune of five goals in the period to close out the Spartans and take the 7-1 win.
Korbin Spears was the lone goal scorer for Emery in the contest.
The Spartans have one game left before they head into Spring Break.
Friday night, the Spartans will welcome the Union Cougars to Castle Dale for one under the lights.
Gametime is set for 7:00 p.m.
