Friday night the Emery Spartan boy’s basketball squad traveled to Morgan to face the Trojans. Last year in early December these two teams faced off with Emery taking the 77-48 win. This time around the shoe was on the other foot with Morgan handing the Spartans a 79-40 loss.
Emery is still searching for their first win after their season-opening loss to South Summit last Wednesday.
The Spartans kept things very close in the first half of play as they were able to come out in the hostile environment on the road and find themselves down by five, 17-12 after one quarter. Making their way into the second each team would match bucket-for-bucket and score 13 a piece, as Morgan would hold a slight edge 30-25.
In the second half, the Trojans would take over. In the third, they held the Spartans to just eight points while building their lead adding 21 to go up 51-33. The fourth and final quarter was all Morgan with them pouring on 28 more points to close out the Spartans, earning them the 79-40 win.
Jace Frandsen led the way with 14 points for Emery, Scott Johansen, and West Johansen each added 10 in the loss.
Emery will host Providence Hall on Wednesday night at the Spartan Center.
Game time is set for 7:00 p.m..
