It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Evan Dale Price on November 23, 2024 at the age of 86 in Clawson, Utah surrounded by loved ones.
Evan Dale Price was born on April 8, 1938 in Clawson, Utah to Victor Debs and Alice Jones Price. Evan was raised in Clawson, Utah and was a graduate from South Emery High School. He married his sweetheart, Mary Lou McDaniel on November 18, 1961 and was sealed in the Manti Temple on July 27, 1965. They had three children while living in Castle Dale and in 1978, they moved out to the farm. They lived a full year without power or running water in a camp trailer while preparing for their home. He loved to putter around on his four wheeler, taking care of animals, tending water, and taking grandkids on rides.
When Evan wasn’t working one of his many careers: farmer, sheep herder, road construction worker, and coal miner (where he was known by co-workers as Chicken Hawk), he was lighting clumps of grass on fire while the kids were trying to hunt. He also liked picnicking, playing cards, and playing pranks on loved ones. One thing that brought him the most joy was seeing and being around his grand and great-grandchildren. He was known as Grandpa to the neighborhood kids, Peays, Killpacks, Jewkes, Higbees, and Shakespears. Grandpa was known for his sense of humor, always telling a joke and making anyone, even strangers, laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Price, Clawson, UT; son, Rick (Wendy) Price, Ferron, UT; daughter, Susan (Stewart) Beebe, Blackfoot, ID; son, Jerry (Trinidi) Price, Clawson, UT; brothers, Don (Jan), Clifford, Clinton (Julie), and Eldon (Janet); sister, Lydia (Garth) Heiniger; grandchildren, Sierra (JC) Longmore, Jeremy Price, Casey Price, Whitney (Jesse) Jones, Wacey Winn, Stephanie (Colton) Mitchell, Lia (Cory) Cannon, Kayley (Colton) Hughes, Jeridi (Kirk) Haney, Taijah and Taleigh Price; and great-grandchildren, Tylee and Tyler Jensen, Shaylynn and Jentri Price, Ryden Winn, Hoyt and Kandon Price, Kagan Hiatt, Kavren and Knoxen Jones, Swayd and baby girl Haney, Tyken Price, and Emilia and Calvin Cannon.
Preceded in death by his parents; brother, John William Price; and sisters, Vickie Hunt, Lylia Thorngren, and Verda Huntington.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Symbii, Casey Hinkins and especially, Taleigh, his granddaughter (who never left his side) for their loving care during Evan’s final days.
