The Lady Spartans kicked off region play at home on Tuesday night as they welcomed the Delta Rabbits to the Spartan Center. Emery came out in the first half and built their lead and then maintained their distance in the second half to cruise to a 61-38 win.

Emery snapped a two game losing streak coming off a pair of losses at the Kanab Tournament last weekend, falling to Draper American Preparatory Academy and Pine View.

The Lady Spartans were ready to go in front of the home crowd as they came out in the first half and almost ran Delta out of the gym putting up 19 in the first quarter and then coming back in the second to put 14 more up on the board, as Emery would create a 33-14 lead heading into the half.

Delta came back a bit in the third, and would go on to outscore Emery by one point 13-12 but the Spartans still held the advantage at 45-27 going into the final eight minutes. The Spartans were not done with Delta yet, ramping up their offense and collecting 16 in the quarter and allowing the Rabbits 11 to take the 61-38 win, earning their first region win this season.

Katelyn Nielson and Kali Jensen each scored 19 in the contest with Nielson adding seven rebounds and collecting an assist, a steal, and a block. Jensen pulled down nine boards, four assists, and five steals, and Saige Curtis had six, with three steals, two assists, and a rebound in the win.

Emery will continue their region schedule on Thursday when they will travel to take on the Richfield Wildcats.
